Among the fourth-grade countries, no difference in average science achievement between boys and girls was more common than having a difference favoring either gender.
Across the fourth-grade countries, many students reached the Low International Benchmark of science achievement and a substantial proportion reached the Intermediate Benchmark. Smaller percentages of students internationally reached the High and Advanced International Benchmarks.
